East Midlands Airport Topographical Survey

SEP were tasked with carrying out a Topographical survey and installing precise control at the main runway at East Midlands Airport which was to be resurfaced.

Challenges

Survey works are not to inhibit the normal flight patterns for the international airport meaning that the survey was performed during the night over three slots.

Winter and night time conditions presented unique challenges to the project

Results

The survey works were completed using our state of the art Focus 35 Robotic Total Stations over a period of three weekend night shifts. A Topographical and Level survey was issued showing existing levels and allowed the designers to understand high and low spots over the full length of the airfield to millimetre accuracy
