Challenges
The positioning of the line needed to be within an accuracy of 5mm. The helix shape of the sloping track has no “industry standard” size and shape to work from. The track has varying degrees of height levels depending on the area of the track. The overall circuit length had to be a 3D distance to reflect the length cyclists are going to travel
Results
Through Laser Scanning the “bowl” we were able to model the shape in AutoCAD and plot the 3D position at which the foul line should be pointed, using Total Stations to Setout the line. Once the foul line was established, the venue could host World events where cycling elite could compete.
